| Understanding Water Consumption
Direct and real time feedback on water consumption is
something that most Australians are not used to having. Usually we
receive a quarterly statement from the water authority which typically
shows the amount of water consumed over the past quarter and as an
aggregate total only from the mains water supply. For homes and
businesses without mains water connection then there is usually no
information available on the amount of water being consumed.
Aquamonitor provides a window to 'real time'
consumption by displaying the volume of water consumed for the current
day and for the previous six days. This is shown numerically and
in graphical format.
Totals are shown as an overall total, as well as a
total per person, so every person in the house or business can be
mindful of their contribution to the amount of water being used every
day.
The water consumption is also displayed graphically
for the past 24 hours so you can see when the majority of water is being
consumed and whether there is any significant usage through the night.
Aquamonitor displays water consumption from mains
water supplies (through your water meter) and / or from water tanks.
The amount consumed from each source is shown, as is the overall total.
So if your house has a mains supply and one or more tanks, you can see
how much water is drawn from the metered supply and how much from your
tank supply. And you get to find out how much water per person is really
being consumed on a daily basis.
Water consumption is also displayed as quarterly
totals, so you can compare with quarterly water statements. |
Have you considered...
... that water consumed in
the kitchen, laundry and in bathrooms can be mostly hot water.
Reduced water consumption can result
in lower heating costs.
... for tank systems the cost of
electricity to pump water:
Less water consumption means
lower energy bills every quarter.
.. the effects of excessive water consumption on septic or treatment
plant systems. Less water
used means less to treat. Systems such as grey water tanks
which use a pump consume less electricity if the throughput of water is
reduced. |
